There's a contest to re-design the pixel art icon, instead of the existing table thing. It has to be 16x16, and I made this. It's like pixels connecting to create something as they go. I wanted to keep the grayish feel of the original icon, but also wanted to add color. So I dabbed it a little with semi-saturated red.
Well, I'm fairly proud with this, it's the best I can do, and I personally think it's pretty good for 16x16.
i like this idea... especially how the pixels are coming together to create something. it would be better if the white area actually appeared transparent. re-submit plz!

I like this one, it's similar to what I did, with the blocks represnting the pixels coming together to form the total work, it represents what pixel art is very well. It's simple but effective and has a nice modern feel.

An excellent attempt at the gallery icon. There's no denying that you have the "pixel" elements spot on.
I personally think it's pretty good for 16x16.
Definately.
Though I think that the message it's giving off could give some people confusion. While I see there's a sort of "pixel by pixel connection" going on, I bet some are like, "What's the dilly-yo with the red and the grey?" The way I looked at it is (corerct me if I'm wrong) the red pixels are floating around and free, but when they get placed down to an absolute position, they turn grey. (Like bricks on a building, you could say. A tetris-effect.) Well -- that's what I thought of it.

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
